It’s that time of year where we all set our new year’s resolutions (to be broken) but I prefer to set myself few goals and target for the year ahead because it really helps me a lot. (See how target can help here)
Let us look back at what I had for 2010.
Last year I had target for RSS readers count. See my goal here and though I missed that badly because of domain move I think there is lot more to learn from that target.
Lessons Learned
1. Target was not something targeted at – “what I should be doing”
Ideally I should have opted for target for myself and not for reader stats. I should target things like what type of things I will be doing in the year ahead and not what could be end result in the form of number of RSS readers.
2. Re-look at target
The domain move was done in October but the plan to move the domain was in my mind quite some time back and ideally I should have re-looked at my targets.
I don’t prefer setting targets and re-setting and that was one of the main reasons for me not reworking at new target in the middle of the year. Reworking new targets means making things easier. I prefer to set aggressive target and don’t prefer to re-look at them just for the sense of accomplishment but in this case it was something where I could have handled it in a better way.
From the lessons learned in 2010 I am sure I can plan 2011 better.
The year Ahead 2011
More content I write the more money I make. It is really that simple and this is my new year’s resolution.
Don’t misinterpret the above line as more content means more money but it is more content I write which means more of quality content from me.
